What kind of watch should I get?

willnyu1982 asked:

I’m considering a Cartier, Raymond Weil and Gucci. The prices are in decending order respectively. I would like a Cartier, but I would have to spend $4k for a basic watch. I’ve seen Gucci’s for 1500 that are really nice. Raymond Weil seems to be in the middle, but I’m not familiar with them. I want a watch that shows I have style and class, but also affordable for me. I’d ideally like to spend between 2000-2500.

Omega watches are and have always been considered classic and tasteful. You would certainly be considered a person of style and class if you wore one of their 14K or 18K dress models. They have a number of wonderful styles in your price range. They have complete Swiss movements if good time is also a consideration with you.

This link will take you to their classic 18K dress watch but there are others to view on the site as well.
    Good luck!

Raymond Weil is the only one of those brands i’d touch. Buying a brand known for clothes and sunglasses will only make you look like someone with more money than brains. For stylish and classy watches try Longines. They are in your budget, beautiful, and importantly, made by a real watch company. Or look at Oris, Omega, or Tag heuer. Lots of variety with those brands, and all top quality.

Based on the brands you mentioned, it looks like your searching for a nice watch for business/casual attire.

Baume Mercier makes a few watches in your price range.

You should also scope out Maurice Lacroix. The Pontos line is my personal favorite.
